December is shaping up to be a great month over here at the museum! On Wednesday December 6th we put on a “parfleche workshop” for 28 area kids in conjunction with the wonderful folks over at the Blaine County Library. The parfleche workshop was an interactive program where kids were able to learn about the history and importance of parfleche: a versatile and beautiful painted rawhide container used by many Indigenous Peoples. For the past year folks at the Harlem ALC have been working on projects that will make life a little easier for someone, we don't know who, but there are many around the world who need our gifts and prayers. ½ c. sugar ¾ tsp. ground ginger ½ c. shortening ½ tsp. baking soda ½ c. dark molasses ¼ tsp. ground allspice ¼ c. water 2 ½ c. Golden Medal all ¾ tsp. salt purpose flour Raisins or currants 1. Beat sugar, shortening, molasses and water in a large bowl on low speed until blended. Beat on medium speed 1 minute. Stir in remaining ingredients except raisins. 2. Cover and refrigerate until chilled 1 to 2 hours. 3. Heat the oven to 375 degrees. 4. Sprinkle a cloth coved surface lightly with flour; turn dough onto surface. Roll dough with a rolling...
3 c. sugar 1 (7oz.) jar Kraft marshmallow crème 2/3 c. undiluted Carnation Evaporated milk ¾ c. margarine 1 c. chopped nuts 1 tsp. vanilla 1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi sweet Chocolate pieces Combine sugar, margarine and milk in heavy 2 ½ quart saucepan, bring to full rolling boil, stirring constantly to prevent scorching.
