The Hays/Lodge Pole volleyball team has had a difficult time winning matches, especially within the highly competitive District 6C-East. The Harlem Wildcat football team is again under the direction of Head Coach Stacy Cole. This is year number two with Cole at the helm and Harlem is looking to improve on a rough campaign a season ago. For the past four seasons the Harlem Lady Cat Volleyball program has been on the rise, and after qualifying for the Northern B Divisional the past two seasons the team has reason to be confident heading into the 2019 campaign. The Chinook Golf and Country Club was the benefactor of nearly 100 man hours turned in by club members Ken Schubert and Dan Harry. The Chinook Golf Course held the 23rd Annual Fireball Tournament this past Saturday and again the course was packed with players. Plenty of hole prizes were available including a Trip to Hawaii and $5,000 Hole in one Prizes and even a $10,000 three putt challenge. On August 6, 2019 Little Rockies Barreling Association held their Finals at the Vincent and Raegan Bell, Arena, Harlem, Mt. Barrel Racing and Pole Bending were on the agenda for youth and adults both. Established around 1989 LRBRA is one of the longest going Barrel Racing Associations in our area. The Harlem Golf Course played host for the Richman Insurance/EZ-Mart Golf Tournament this past Saturday. Thirteen teams made up the field with four people per team. Playing in a scramble format, the tournament began with registration at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Calcutta, with teams teeing off at 10:00 a.m. A 'Scramble' is played with all four players hitting from the same spot, the team will then choose the ball they would like to play next and everyone will hit from there. This past weekend more than 330 of the best senior golfers in Montana were in Billings to play in the MSGA State Senior Tournament. Played over the course of four days at the Yellowstone Country Club, the Lake Hills Golf Course and the Laurel Golf Course, the tournament included a practice round on Monday and tournament rounds Tuesday through Thursday. The Chinook Golf Course will host its 24th Annual Fireball Golf Tournament this Saturday, and as has been the case the past several years a full field is expected. The tournament has been played with as many as 22 teams in the past but the optimal number is 18-20 and that is what can be expected this weekend. The tournament is the biggest of the year for the course and this Saturday players will have the opportunity to win some huge cash prizes or potentially even a trip to Hawaii. The summer swim season came to an end this past weekend in Sidney, Montana as the Montana Federation of Swimmers summer season concluded with the State Meet. The Chinook Lions swim team swam very well, capturing the Class A Division Team Championship. The Chinook Golf Course had a fantastic day on Saturday, July 6th as it was home to the 2019 Chinook High School All-Class Reunion Golf Tournament. 15 teams and 60 golfers hit the links in what turned out to be a fabulous fundraiser for the course. June was a busy month for the football program at Hays/Lodge Pole High School. New Assistant Football Coach Jerry Racine has been busy putting on camps and taking are youth to camps outside the area since coming to Blaine County.
