We sure were lucky yesterday to have the Loaves & Fishes children stop by and perform songs for us. We enjoyed it very much and they did such a nice job! According to Ed Obie, Chinook's Airport Manager, the construction equipment seen working in front of the airport's hangars should be gone in a couple of weeks. More than 300 dancers converged on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation to take part in the Milk River Indian Days Powwow. Dancers come from all over the United States and Canada to compete in a variety of competitions to earn cash prizes and awards. Lynn Phillips became the new director of the Chinook Food Pantry in mid-July. Phillips, a relative newcomer to the area, takes over from Jeanne Dalton who served as director from January, 2016 to June of this year. Dalton moved back to California to live near her daughter. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is authorizing the use of additional Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) lands for emergency grazing and haying in and around portions of Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota affected by severe drought. A potluck picnic was held this past Friday at the Turner Park sponsored by the Turner Volunteer Fire Department. The firemen barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs along with corn on the cob.
