  • Precipitation hits area, region still short on moisture

    Much-needed precipitation has fallen in this part of Montana in the last few weeks, turning around a near-absence of moisture the first months of the year, but the area is still far-short of normal. National Weather Service reported Friday, the deadline for this article, that Havre had received .68 inches of precipitation so far in April, ahead of its normal amount of .51 inches for April 17.     On Sunday, April 12, the Chinook FFA held its biennial Donkey Basketball fundraiser. This year's competition featured four teams with the Blaine County Sheriff's Deputies eventually taking the crown as the 2026 Chinook Donkey Basketball Champions.     Another meet, another great showing by the Turner girls track and field team. Last weekend, the Tornadoes took part in the Winifred Track Meet, where the Turner girls placed third overall with 82 points. Turner finished only behind DGS and District 9C rival North Star. The Turner boys scored one point in the meet as well.
