The Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds have had to overcome more obstacles than most teams in the past 18 months. A season ago the Thunderbirds were directly impacted more than any Blaine County School and possibly any school in the state of Montana. The summer swim season concluded this past weekend in Colombia Falls with the Montana Federation of Swimmers State Meet. Both the Chinook Lions and Harlem swim teams performed very well over the weekend. The Chinook Lions finished first in the Class A Division with just 16 swimmers. The Chinook Lions and Harlem Water Dragon Swim Teams were in Lewistown this past weekend at the Montana Federation of Swimmers Eastern Divisional. This past week, July 1-3 kids in the Hays and Lodge Pole communities and those nearby were fortunate enough to be able to take part in the 'gROw Basketball Training Camp' held at the Hays/Lodge Pole High School. The camp ran from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily and provided kids grade 3-12 an opportunity to learn about the game and themselves along the way. The Chinook B League Girls Fast-Pitch Softball team concluded a perfect season with a bases loaded walk-off walk in eighth inning of the Championship Game on Thursday, June 24. The Chinook Golf and Country Club held its annual Community Dinner and Auction on Saturday, June 26 at the Blaine County Fairgrounds. The evening festivities included a BBQ Baby-back Rib Dinner cooked by Kris Parsons and Travis Schwindt.
